Christmas Canoe Ride and Photo Expedition
In the afternoon this past Christmas, after all the activity of the morning was over, I asked my brother, Jordan, and my wife, Melaina, if they wanted to go with me in the canoe to take some pictures of the dam at Starke Park in Seguin. It's not a long trip and it wasn't bitter cold, but they did not want to go. I thought I was out of luck, but then my dad, who had been asleep in his recliner opened his eyes and said he would go. My sister, Julie, also decided to come along.
Here is our little adventure:
This is a small island/rock bar in the Guadalupe River near the dam. We docked here so I could set up and take a few pics of the dam.
Here are dad and Julie on the penstock deck of the old hydro plant. A better view of the entire structure is coming up. The little pile of rocks out there is where we docked in the previous shot.
My next goal is to get some similar shots, but at sunrise instead of sunset. That will be a bigger recruiting challenge.

Fun shoot with cool light
I really like the way the tall, yellow grass looks out near the dam at Lake Waco so I convinced my wife, Melaina, and my sister, Julie to come do a shoot just for fun. This followed a string of family portraits so it was nice to play around and be extra goofy... You know, because I'm only being normal goofy when I'm trying to get the kiddos to look at the camera.

That was fun. Now back to work. (This work is fun too, though.)
